I created this wallpaper quite a while back (just after the issue of Rolling Stone came out).
At the time my scanner had died, and I desperately wanted the picture as a wallpaper, so in an obvious mental lapse, I proceeded to re-create the image using 3DS Max. Why Max? I had toyed with the 2D art approach using it a few times, and I knew I could make something like this using it, so what you see here is lots of layers that are wafer thin sitting on top of other layers so they barely overlap.. Probably not the smartest method of making such a picture, but it worked. So for those concerned this is a scan - I created this image from scratch, using the Rolling Stone front cover as a guide. If needed, I can provide my source max files. Wasn't sure of which wallpaper subcategory to put this, so hope this one is ok. *** I think I have to clarify a bit here, and hope people read this! This image is a recreation of the Rolling Stones Simpsons cover.. It was released near the end of 2002. Matt Groening made 4 or so special Simpsonized covers to celebrate something. I just recreated it in 3DS Max (back in Dec 2002) because, as I said above, my scanner died and I really wanted it as a wallpaper. So it was a bunch of hard work (making a 2D image in a 3D package is probably a stupid idea) but the credit for the design comes from Matt Groening, the creator of The Simpsons. I wrote my original description (above this) assuming people would recognise the fact it came from a Rolling Stone cover (that and the fact the title of the image is Rolling Stone Bart). Apologies to anyone who has +fav this thinking the design was also mine *** Check out a rotated camera version of the same pic to show how it was made: [link] Also has a wireframe version in the corner. Daily DeviationGiven 2004-01-18It's plain to see the amount of work that has gone into the creation of Rolling Stone Bart by ~juzmental. The painstaking attention to detail and level of craftsmanship is a rarity in todays community, and deserves your attention and praise. (Featured by +ekud) |
